Question
I drive my horses quite
regularly on the pavement. I have witnessed and heard
from other drivers about the traction of horse boots and
their plastic/rubber soles on the road. Almost all
horses that were driven for a long period of time (which
I am sometimes) have developed bowed tendons or splints.
A few vets have come to the conclusion that the boots
they were using provided too much friction and caused
the lameness. They were different brand boots than
yours.
Would you advise using your boots for road work? What is
the texture of the tread on the boots/what is it made
out of? I haven't heard anything bad about your boots
but they are a newer brand compared to the rest of the
ones out there.

4. Anwer
We know that many of our customers use the marquis
supergrip for their driving horses and we have not
heard about problems.
The sole of the marquis supergrip is made of
Polyurethan material and allows a short sliding
phase . There is no sudden stop as would happen, if
the sole would be made of rubber.
If using the boots for road work we also
recommend road nails: they protect the soles from
wear and abrupt stops are avoided

3 . Question
Is it safe for the horse
to put different sized boots on RT and LT hind
feet? For example, #3 on the left hind and #2 on
the right hind.
|
3. Answer
Most important for safety is, that the boots
fit correctly!
The right size is very important. The marquis
supergrip needs to fit tight to the hoof. With our
special air chamber you can adjust the marquis
supergrip to the hoof. If the horses hoofs are
different in size and shape choose the right size
for each hoof. Of course you may also choose two
different sizes on the RT and LT hind feet.

| 2. Question
Is it ok to use the marquis boots on only the front or the
hind feet? |
| 2. Answer
"It is no problem to use the marquis supergrip on only
the hind hoofs (or the front hoofs). It does not matter if
the boots are a bit higher than metal shoes. The boots are
also often used on the front hoofs only and the hind hoofs
are barefoot." |
1. Question
Why does the Marquis
boot only use width measurements of the hoof and not
hoof length measurements when fitting?
|
| 1. Answer
The width measurement is important for the fitting of the
boot. The length of the hoof, however, can be adapted
by the inflated air chamber. |
